President Xi Speaks by Phone with Egyptian President Abdul Fatah Al-Sisi

On the evening of 23 March, President Xi Jinping spoke by phone with President Abdul Fatah Al-Sisi of Egypt.

Xi noted that the recent outbreaks in multiple countries have proven once again that mankind is a community with a shared future and that countries should work together and make a collective response. Bearing in mind the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind, China will work with the rest of the international community to enhance epidemic prevention cooperation, confront common threats and challenges, and safeguard global public health security. Egypt's support for China's response efforts has demonstrated the profound friendship and the strength of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. Now, in light of the pressing task of fighting the epidemic in Egypt, China will share information, experience and research outcomes with Egypt in a timely manner and send medical supplies to support and fight alongside Egypt. Xi expressed his belief that this joint effort will deepen the longstanding friendship between the two countries. Xi reaffirmed commitment to growing the bilateral ties and readiness to work with Egypt to deepen practical cooperation across the board and make China-Egypt relations a model for building a community with a shared future for China and Arab states and for China and African countries.

Al-Sisi commended China's progress in fighting the outbreak as yet another testament to President Xi's strong and able leadership and to the unity and strength of the great Chinese people. Egypt always believes that China will triumph over and emerge even stronger from the epidemic. He expressed appreciation for China's support and assistance, and shared confidence that the joint fight will further deepen the friendly relations between China and Egypt, two countries that are special and friendly partners to each other. He reaffirmed his commitment to the bilateral ties and his readiness to work with China for practical and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields and for better communication and coordination in international affairs.
